National Famine Memorial Cuimhneachán Náisiunta ar an nGorta Mór

Close to Murrisk, this national memorial of Ireland's Great Famine between 1845 and 1849, can be visited. The memorial was designed by John Behan, an artist from Dublin, showing a ship shaped like a coffin.

The National Famine Memorial is located on the Wild Atlantic Way 9 kilometres west of Westport, opposite the parking area on the foot of Croagh Patrick.
