Port An Port
A detour to Port brings one into one of the most remote and wildest areas of Ireland. Here the coastline reveals bizzare shapes of rocks, formed by the wild Atlantic that keeps pounding against the shore. Close to the small harbour there are the remains of a “ghost town” - a small settlement, which has been left by its inhabitants during the great famine.
Around 17 kilometres past Ardara leave the Wild Atlantic Way in direction of Min na Croise. After 6 kilometres you reach a split road, where you follow a hand painted sign for 4,5 kilometres in direction of Port.
